Seward

We woke up this morning to clear blue skies and sun-a perfect day for a drive.  So, we loaded up the dogs and headed down to Seward.

Pongo slept most of the way down, saving up his energy for all the new sights and smells.

Lowell Point Beach

And a couple of Reid’s photobombs…

After a long day of walking on the beach and in town, we had one tired pup.

Proofing Class Graduation

Pongo graduated from Proofing class tonight.  He’s taken it before but this round Liz, the owner and our instructor at Alaska Dog Sports made the class fun and exciting by creating new exercises to challenge the pups.  Pongo rocked the house tonight despite being rather distracted in the beginning.

Our controlled Meet & Greet.

One minute sit stay.

One minute down stay.

Waiting patiently with Papa.

Just being plain ol’ cute.

Spring Break Wrap-Up

Spring Break this past week has been full of ups and downs.

UPS

Grandma Bev is visiting and we are keeping her plenty busy with projects.

Pancake brunch with friends.

Tj and Jackson

Bethany and Sarina

Papa, Reid and Pongo.  Pongo is so intrigued with the little people running around but is being a very good boy waiting calmly.

Jackson testing out Pongo’s condo.

Papa Pongo-proofing the kitty door.

DOWNS

Worrying about, cleaning up after, and vetting a very sick kitty…she’s feeling much better now.

And…putting up with one raging teenager of a pup.

New Snow

Anchorage got a good dumping of snow yesterday.  Something that hasn’t happened in a while and, in my opinion, much needed to help “freshen” things up.

The dogs enjoyed playing and romping in the new snow today.

I also built a snow berm in hopes Pongo would fly over it like Reid used to do when she was a more agile young lady.

And while Pongo did fly, I think he had more fun “killing” the tug toy.

I would say everyone had fun because they both are resting peacefully, for now…

The Sneak

If I can just squeeze my body through this little hole-in-the-wall, I will be rewarded with a smorgasbord of kitty delights: 2 litter boxes to nose around in and hopefully find a few buried treasures and a feeder of full food I know is off-limits (my favorite thing to partake in!).

Once Mama figured out I could get my whole body through that little kitty door…ACCESS DENIED!

Dingoes, Dingoes, Dingoes

Flipping through the channels last night (Yes, we lead a very exciting weekend nightlife!), we ran across Martin Clunes, A Man And His Dogs on the Smithsonian Channel.  Low and behold, he was traveling to Fraser Island in Australia in search of the wild Dingo.  While many Dingoes in Australia have bred with domestic dogs, Fraser Island is home to Dingoes in their purest form because domestic dogs have been banned from the island.

It is sad to say though Dingoes do not have a very good reputation in Australia (This does not include Australian Aborigines who highly revere the Dingo; they are mythological icons, totems and are also associated with sacred sites).  Dingoes are seen as “pests” who are dangerous.  It seems that a lot of people don’t see them as they should be seen: as wild animals that deserve space and respect.  There is a growing problem of people feeding the Dingoes on Fraser Island, which in turn causes bigger problems and guess who pays the price of human stupidity–the Dingoes!

On a lighter note, Martin also went to the mainland to visit a very talented Dingo named Dinky.

Can you guess where our future travels will be taking us?  Maybe we’ll adopt (i.e. sponsor) a Dingo…or two.
